Biography

Corey Ledet was born and raised in Houston, Texas, but spent his summers in Parks, Louisiana, immersing himself in Creole culture. His love for Creole/Zydeco music began early, and he started playing drums for the Houston-based band Wilbert Thibodeaux and the Zydeco Rascals at age 10. He later transitioned to the accordion, mastering various types, including single-note, triple-note, and piano key accordions. Ledet's career has been marked by a blend of traditional and modern styles, keeping one foot in tradition while exploring new influences. He has released several albums, including 'Nothin' But the Best' and a self-titled album, both of which earned Grammy nominations. His latest album, 'Médikamen,' is notable for being entirely in Kouri-Vini, the Louisiana Creole language, reflecting his efforts to reclaim his family's cultural heritage. Ledet is a world traveler, having performed in 15 countries and numerous festivals across North America.
