Jake Eckert, born on April 27, 1976, is a renowned guitarist known for his work with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and New Orleans Suspects. He began his musical journey in Atlanta, where he was exposed to the vibrant live music scene. Eckert shared stages with notable artists like Derek Trucks Band, Merl Saunders, and Col. Bruce Hampton. In 2000, he moved to Los Angeles, performing and recording with the funk/jazz band New Soul Underground, alongside Larry Carlton. In 2007, he joined the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, performing globally until 2013. Eckert is also a Grammy Award-winning recording engineer and producer, owning Rhythm Shack Studio in New Orleans. His first solo album, Roll On, was released in 2009, featuring George Porter Jr. and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band. As a producer, he has worked on albums for John Mooney, New Orleans Suspects, and Cedric Burnside. Eckert's musical style blends elements of jazz, funk, and blues, reflecting his deep roots in New Orleans music. His legacy includes collaborations with a wide array of artists, from Little Feat to Dr. John. Currently, Eckert continues to perform and produce music, maintaining his influence in the New Orleans music scene. His son, River Eckert, is also making a name in the music world as a young piano prodigy.
