Biography

Mónica "Monik" Guerrero is a Peruvian singer who recorded during the early 1970s in Lima. She is the daughter of Manuel Antonio Guerrero, who owned and directed Discos MAG, one of the most important Peruvian record labels of the 1960s. Monik recorded her first songs in 1972 at MAG studios in collaboration with members of the bands We All Together and Traffic Sound, which were recorded and released as a 7" single on her father's label. She returned to the studio in 1973 to record two additional songs: a cover of "Maybe I Know," originally made famous by Lesley Gore in 1964, and "Forgiveness," an original composition by Ernesto and Félix of We All Together. Her complete discography from this period was later reissued on vinyl for the first time, preserving her contributions to Peru's mid-century music scene.
