Biography
John Paul Cooper, known professionally as JP Cooper, was born on 1 November 1983 in Middleton, Greater Manchester, England. A self-taught musician, he grew up during the Britpop era, playing in various bands throughout school and broadening his tastes at Manchester's Vinyl Exchange, discovering artists like Björk, Aphex Twin, Donny Hathaway, and Rufus Wainwright. In 2002, he studied Contemporary Popular Music at North Trafford College, joining the band Kid Conspiracy (later Azure Glow), which released EPs and toured locally before disbanding in 2006. He honed his skills at open mic nights, transitioned to solo work, and joined Manchester's Sing Out Gospel Choir, blending indie rock, folk, soul, gospel, and pop influences.[1][2][3]
