Biography
JaRon Marshall is a Louisiana-born musician and producer currently based in Austin, Texas. Born and raised in the small town of Loreauville, Louisiana, Marshall began playing piano at the age of 11 and quickly developed a passion for music that would shape his career. He studied Jazz Studies at the University of Louisiana, where he honed his skills and began to explore the fusion of genres that would become his signature sound. After moving to Austin, Marshall established himself as a versatile keyboardist, composer, and educator, performing at major festivals and venues across North America and Europe, including Winter Jazzfest, Montreal International Jazz Festival, SXSW, and Ronnie Scott’s in London.
Marshall is best known as the keyboardist for the GRAMMY-nominated group Black Pumas, a role he has held since 2019, contributing as both a studio and touring musician as well as a co-composer on tracks such as 'Mrs. Postman.' His own music is described as 'the marriage between funk, jazz, R&B, neo-soul, and hip-hop,' blending traditional influences with modern, futuristic elements. He has released his own album, 'earth sounds,' and has served as the in-house composer for Austin’s NPR station KUTX, creating theme music for original podcasts.
