He began his formal music education at Cégep de Ste-Foy, earning a collegial degree in music with guitar as his primary instrument in 1984, followed by a DEC in pop music from Cégep of Drummondville in 1986. Bergeron furthered his studies in composition, completing a third cycle at the Conservatoire de musique de Québec in 1990, and later pursued jazz interpretation at the University of Montreal from 1992 to 1994, focusing on electric guitar. He also trained in computer-assisted music at Musitechnic School in Montreal.
